SurePayroll was named 2021 Best Payroll Service for Household Employers by Business News Daily, a news and information resource for decision makers and small business owners. This is the sixth consecutive year SurePayroll earned top honors in this category.
The “Best of 2021” review highlights the many advantages offered by SurePayroll household payroll, including accessibility, a broad array of services and features, friendly customer service, affordability, and “a simple-to-understand interface that allows you to run payroll in just a few minutes.”
And the expert help couldn’t come at a better time.
“I think we’ve probably seen an increase of about 70 percent in requests for live-in nannies,” said Jo Barrow, CEO of Nannies by Noa. “The expectations have grown… they’re looking for one person that can wear more hats.”
School shutdowns and distance learning for students and remote work requirements for parents created the perfect household storm. According to Heather Hurley, Director of Marketing for College Nannies & Sitters, the pandemic forced parents to juggle more responsibilities than ever.
"Parents have never experienced anything like this—working from home while simultaneously helping children with distance learning," said Hurley.
While families generally take considerable time finding the right person to join the household team, it’s equally important they understand the obligations of being a household employer.
A household employee, such as a nanny or childcare provider, is either part-time or full-time, and the homeowner controls what work is assigned, how the work is completed, and if it is a live-in situation. Assigned work ranges from providing an “extra” pair of hands for childcare to more expertise in algebra and grammar to assist young minds.
Hiring a nanny requires more research and planning than a casual babysitter. And whether a family decides to hire a live-in or live-out nanny, it’s important to determine pay and job duties, and have a plan for how to process household payroll and ensure nanny tax compliance.
Business News Daily conducts extensive research and analysis to select annual award winners. The online publication acknowledged SurePayroll as the industry leader, detailing how the 21-year-old company “provides everything household employers need from a payroll provider, including all payroll and payroll tax services.” The review also notes that SurePayroll offers best-in-class small business online payroll services.
